Why Building Products is an Optimization Problem: How to Use Data in your Product Discipline
Lift Product Conference - Columbus, OH
September, 2018
Building products is an optimization problem, much like many other systems in business. Our job as product managers and product owners is to maximize the amount of value our products/solutions provide customers or users. We take many data points into account, collecting and making sense of feedback on product usage, information about industry and market trends, and thoroughly understanding the problems that our products could potentially solve. The goal is to provide the maximum value in a solution for a customer faster and better than the competition. This talk framed up the product optimization problem, the variables and data used to solve it.
